Meet Charlie, our big 3-year-old boy! Charlie is a 29 lb. sweet boy, who is house trained, crate trained (sleeps in his crate), and leash trained. He is a very smart young man, and knows a variety of commands including âÂÂsit,â âÂÂin your crate,â âÂÂoutside,â âÂÂget your toy,â âÂÂshake,â and âÂÂwalk.â His foster mom says he is so intelligent that she has also been helping him with even more commands, including âÂÂstay,â âÂÂcome,â âÂÂleave it,â âÂÂdrop it,â âÂÂgive,â and more. She describes him as incredibly lovable, with a sunny personality. She believes that with some positive training and a little patience, he could learn to do lots of tricks, or even participate in sports.
Charlie loves others and is a playful, active boy. He is easily excitable, and can be a little pushy when he first meets new dogs. With time, he becomes a much more respectful pup. Charlie has come to be good buddies with the female dogs in his foster home. During limited interaction with a male dog, he became very mannerly, given some time to adjust. Charlie has lived with cats, but would do best in a home without cats, having shown some aggression toward them. He has been around children while in foster care, and proved to be a perfect gentleman. In fact, he let them take toys away from him, did not play too aggressively, and even with his excitable nature, refrained from jumping on them. However, his previous family said that he nipped at their very young toddler. Charlie has not shown an ounce of aggression towards his humans at his foster home.
Charlie loves to play tug of war enthusiastically, but only in a playful manner. He also loves to go on car rides, play with toys, play with other dogs, play fetch, go on walks, and chew on bones. He is a healthy boy with some allergies according to his vet records, but his foster mom has not seen much evidence of those in her care.
Charlie is a big goofball and lovable boy, but would do best in a home where there are no children under 5 to tease and pick at him. An active family who enjoys playing with him will be perfect for this fellow!
