Lucy is a beautiful, young, sweet baby girl!  She needs a family that has patience, time,  lots of love, and extra funds to handle her bladder expelling and diaper changes due to Cauda Equina Syndrome. Lucy has full use of her legs. She has no control of her bowels or bladder. The girl is a diaper dog and always will be. As a diaper girl, Lucy requires diapers, wipes and a special diet. She goes through 7 - 10 diapers a day. Her food cost is roughly $45 a month. ProPlan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric really keeps her system regulated. That helps with the diaper changes. Lucy is otherwise healthy. UTI’s can be common. Keeping her bladder empty is key to preventing infections. Learning to express the urine is a biggie.

Are you willing to be her HERO? She will pay you back with love a million times over!

The Adoption Application Process:

1. The first step of our adoption process to submit our adoption application online (at the bottom of this page). We require a $20 application fee which we will contact you about once we have received your application. You can pay your application fee here. This is a nonrefundable fee, so make sure you read through the requirements before you apply.

2. Once your fee is received we review your application and place a call to your veterinarian to make sure all past and current dogs have been well taken care of.

3. After your vet check we do a home visit where one of our volunteers comes to your home to meet and talk with you and your family.

4. Finally after your application has been fully processed, our Adoption Coordinator will contact you to let you know if your application has been approved. If so, we will begin talking about the dogs you are interested in. Approved adopters get to chat with foster parents about the dogs as well as set up meet and greets to meet the dog they are interested in.

Foster dogs will not be considered for adoption placement until the home visit has been conducted and approved.  The entire adoption process can take two to six weeks.  Home visits that are outside of NC, or in VA, SC and GA cities where no BTRTOC volunteers reside may require additional coordination and time.

The adoption fee for Lucy is: $250

All dogs will receive a complete veterinary check-up, be micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested, and be current on vaccines prior to adoption.
