“My name is Cal or “Lil Cal” or “Cal Naughton Jr”. I am a Papillon (aka Continental Toy Spaniel) and almost 1 year old. I came from a bad situation and people weren’t good to me, so it takes time for me to trust. I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and on prevention. I love to chew on anything hard, so I do well when I have chew toys. I love to play outside. I am very smart and learn quickly. I am house trained and use a doggy door as well as go into my crate easily. I haven’t been on a leash much, but my foster mom thinks I’m smart enough to learn that quickly. I have big, beautiful ears, so I hear everything and will let you know if anyone is coming. I’m still scared of my own shadow. I’ve been jaded by humans so while I love you to pet me and I will lick your hand, I do not like to be held yet - hopefully with time I’ll be more comfortable with completely trusting my humans. Ironically, I do like to sleep next to you in bed, but I’ll also sleep on my own bed if you prefer. I would do fine in a home with other dogs, but young kids are probably not a good idea for me, since I get scared so easily. I like to chase the goats at my foster home and if I could get to those chickens, I’d chase them too…though I’m not sure what I’d do if I caught them! I have not been around cats, so I don’t know what I’d think of them.
