Beetlejuice (answers to Beetle) is a very handsome 4 year old 30 lb boy. He arrived to rescue having never been socialized and in rough physical shape. After clearing up ear and skin infections, Beetle had surgery to correct a very elongated palate and stenotic nares. He did great and now he can breathe so much better and doesn’t shake the house with his snores!
Beetle was surrendered after his lifelong mommy moved in with a man that did not treat him kindly. Beetle has major crate anxiety and it’s likely he was forced into a crate for most of his day. He came to rescue not knowing his own name, not house trained, and no manners. Beetle really didn’t realize that he can LOVE a human, but he’s learning.
Beetle needs a female only home, with a mommy (or mommies) that can provide structure and have experience with strong willed dogs. Beetle has never had structure or a true relationship with his people. He is fine with other dogs, as long as those dogs are easy going. He loves toys and will steal a bone in a flash! He has not been cat tested but has a strong prey drive; in fact, he will clear your home of pesky creepy crawlers! He loves to chew on toys but doesn’t chew on shoes or furniture. He joyfully tosses his toys to himself and is very content to play alone. He also loves to sit in the sunshine and seems rather pensive. Again, he likely did not have much human interaction for his entire life, so he’s not exactly a cuddle bug. He wants to be near you, but not underneath you. He has a lot of adorable quirks and is a very special boy.
Beetle has learned many house manners at his foster home, but still needs kindness and understanding when he has accidents. He does not respond well to being scolded. He also is learning proper crate training but would love a home that didn’t necessarily need to use a crate. He loves his current “work from home” situation and enjoys napping on his humans bed, preferably with the heated blanket turned on! Beetle is not leash trained and needs a fenced in yard to roam for potty time.
